Chicago police shooting now under review

O'Neal's family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit

(NBC News) – New dashcam and body camera video of a fatal police shooting in Chicago was released Friday.

Police shot and killed 18-year-old Paul O’Neal who was suspected of driving a stolen car last Thursday, and the city’s police superintendent says the video raises questions of whether department policies were followed.

Police say they spotted the car which video shows sideswiping a police car, and an officer fires his gun.

The jaguar and another police car colide and more guns fire as someone runs. In later footage, O’Neal is seen on the ground, his back bloody as police handcuff him.

“They shot at us too, right?” an officer can be heard asking.

Police said later they did not recover a gun at the scene and department rules prohibit police from shooting at a moving vehicle.

O’Neal’s family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit in federal court.
