Basketball Hall of Fame 2016 auction features memorabilia from past and current stars

Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is partnering with SCP Auctions for the online auction

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Pieces of basketball history will be up for auction at the online auction being held by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and SCP Auctions from August 3 through August 20.

The auction will feature more than 300 authentic basketball memorabilia from Hall of Famers including the late Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Bob Cousy, Julius Erving and Larry Bird, as well as the person collection of Ann Meyers Drysdale, the only female player to ever sign a free contract with an NBA team, the Indiana Pacers.

Besides Meyers personal collection that includes her 1993 Hall of Fame plaque, the auction will also feature Chamberlain’s 1959-60 NBA Player of the Year Trophy, a 1962 game ticket stub from his record-setting 100-point game at the Hershey Sports Arena as a member of the Philadelphia Warriors and his 1971-72 L.A. Lakers game worn, championship season warm-up jacket. Dozens of game worn uniforms and shoes from retired players will be featured, including Dr. J, Bird and Michael Jordan, as well as current players including Lebron James, Stephen Curry and Dwyane Wade.

The Hall of Fame class of 2016 includes Chicago Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf, Cumberland Posey, 27-year NBA referee Darell Garretson, Zelmo Beaty, Yao Ming, Allen Iverson, Shaquille O’Neal, Sheryl Swoopes, coach John McLendon, and Michigan State coach Tom Izzo.
