Springfield’s Night Out celebration was city-wide

Springfield Police: “We're all part of the same community”

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield hosted National Night Out celebrations Tuesday night in 11 neighborhoods across the City.

The Springfield Police Department had officers at every location to meet with residents and the kids of those neighborhoods. 22News was at White Street School for the Forest Park celebration.

Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno said hosting several celebrations city-wide is part of their “C-3 policing” model to have a presence in every community.

Springfield Police Sgt. Reggie Miller told 22News, “We’re all part of the same community. Having events like these fosters us being able to meet each other, build relationships, and get to know each other on a first-name basis.”

Springfield Police were asking residents Tuesday to lock their doors, turn on the lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors, friends, and police.
