Holyoke considering proposed medical marijuana facility

Flores said he already has state approval, and support from Holyoke's Mayor

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Heriberto Flores, one of the principals for the non-profit organization “Debilitating Medical Treatment Center,” formally submitted his application to the Holyoke City Council Tuesday night.

Flores wants to open a medical marijuana cultivation and dispensary center in an industrial zone at 630 Beaulieu Street in Holyoke. He said he already has license approval from the state, as well as support from Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse.

Flores told 22News if the City Council Ordinance Committee grants him the right to operate, he’ll begin re-habbing and retrofitting the building on the Beaulieu Street property. “We’re going to have the cultivation in the front of the building. Secure the building. And we’ll be in the process with the police department and everything else to make sure everything is secure,” Flores said.

Once the facility is up and running, Flores hopes to employ as many as 20 people there. Flores said he couldn’t project an opening date until he receives final approval from the city.
