Worcester man accused of slashing cop’s face ordered held

The mean slashed the officers face with a steak knife

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A Worcester man charged with slashing a police officer’s face with a steak knife has been held without bail.

The Telegram & Gazette reports that a judge ruled Wednesday that Patxie Delorbe poses a danger to the community and his release could jeopardize public safety.

Delorbe has been charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a police officer and other offenses.

Police responded to a call July 17 from Delorbe’s ex-girlfriend who said he was calling her and making violent threats. They say Delorbe arrived on the scene and the officer was cut during a scuffle.

The suspect’s attorney asked that his client be placed under house arrest with GPS monitoring because he had no criminal convictions on his record.
