AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – Campus police at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst are conducting “Active threat Training” this Saturday morning.
The training is meant to prepare campus police for a real threatening shooter situation.
The training involves realistic scenarios and the use of simulated ammunition training rounds. The rounds are similar to real bullets but use crayon-like material to show where they land.
The training was introduce on campus back in 2007 after the Virginia Tech shootings.
The training sessions inside Dickenson Hall started this Saturday morning at 8 A-M and will continue until 4 this Saturday afternoon.
