University of Massachusetts student on watch list for Ray Guy Award

AMHERSET, Mass. (WWLP)- A University of Massachusetts junior is on the watch list for the Ray Guy Award, presented annually to the nation’s best collegiate punter.

Logan Laurent, a native of Exeter, New Hampshire, has a career long punt of 56 yards and kicked 13 punts of at least 50 years in 2015. He had at least one punt of over 50 yards in eight games played last season.

In 2015, Laurent ranked third in the Mid-Atlantic Conference for average yards per punt (42.2) and highest among punters with at last 60 attempts. He also ranked 46th nationally and 13th among underclassmen-only in yards per punt.

The 10 semifinalists will be announced on Nov. 22. The winner of the 2016 Ray Guy Award will be announced as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show, airing on ESPN on December 8, 2016.
