Firefighter injured after fire at Secure Energy Solutions

Firefighter sent to hospital for heat related injuries

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass (WWLP) – Firefighters were able to put out a fire at the Secure Energy Solutions on Somers Road Thursday morning, in East Longmeadow.

Kevin Mattson, the owner of Secure Energy Solutions, told 22News that 25 workers were in the building when lights started flashing and it “looked like an electrical storm.” “We tried to figure out what’s going on,” Mattson said. “It was almost like a lightning storm, a thunderous flickering, you know you can hear it too. So when you have something like that, you just got to get out of the building.”

Mattson said he led all 25 workers out of the building to safety. He said a local realtor has offered them a temporary place to do business while repairs are being made to the building.

East Longmeadow Fire Captain Ed McCandlish told 22News a firefighter was sent to a local hospital for heat related injuries after working on the fire.

Secure Energy Solutions sells electricity and solar systems to companies all over the country.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated at this time.
