2 Springfield laundromats robbed within 3 hours

The Major Crimes Unit is investigating both of these robberies

The Laundromax at 1291 Liberty Street, Springfield, MA was robbed July 5th, Tuesday afternoon.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Police in Springfield are investigating whether the armed robbery at the Laundromax on Main Street is connected to the robbery at the Laundromax on Liberty Street.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News the first robbery happened around 10:34 a.m. Tuesday at 644 Main Street. He said the suspect showed a gun and took an unknown amount of cash out of the safe.

The second robbery happened around 1:07 p.m. Tuesday at 1291 Liberty Street. Sgt. Delaney said the suspect showed a gun that was at his waist, but police are still investigating what was stolen and how much.

In both robberies, Sgt. Delaney said the suspect was described as a Hispanic man, with light skin, and about 5’7” – 5’9”. However, he said the Main Street suspect was described as being “slim” and the Liberty Street suspect was seen with braces on his teeth.
