WINTHROP, Mass. (AP) — A man is in critical condition and two men are facing charges following an overnight shooting at a Massachusetts house party.
The Suffolk district attorney’s office says Andrew Guilfoyle and Jared Damelio are both charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
A preliminary investigation indicates a fight broke out at the Winthrop home early Sunday morning involving the shooting victim, a 27-year-old Stoneham man. The 28-year-old Damelio is accused of hitting the victim in the head with a baton. The 31-year-old Guilfoyle allegedly retrieved a rifle and shot the victim once in the abdomen.
The victim was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he is in critical but stable condition.
Guilfoyle and Damelio are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.
It’s unclear whether they have lawyers who could comment.
