Bicyclist struck by car in downtown Springfield

Accident took place on Dwight Street near I-291 underpass

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A bicyclist has been taken to the hospital after being struck by a car in downtown Springfield Friday morning.

Springfield Police Officer Ron Goodrow told 22News that officers are still looking into the cause of the crash, which took place at around 8:00 A.M. where Dwight Street passes underneath Interstate 291.

Goodrow said that the cyclist’s condition is not known at this time.

There was also a bicyclist struck by a car in Southwick on Friday. The extent of that individual’s injuries were are also unknown at this time.
