HOLLAND, Mass. (WWLP) – Members of several fire departments from western and central Massachusetts will be in Holland again Tuesday, following a brush fire that burned several acres of land in that eastern Hampden County town Monday.

7 acre fire in Holland contained; no homes are in danger

According to Holland police, drivers are being told to stay away from Marcey Road and Marcey Place, and to use caution when using Stafford Road. Firefighters from 12 different communities were able to contain the fire on Monday. Because the fire was in such a heavily wooded area, firefighters had to cut down trees and create new paths to allow tanker and forestry trucks through.

Holland police say that they expect firefighters to be working on putting out what is left of the fire for much of the day Tuesday.
