SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Chinese company that is going to be building trains for the “T” in Boston is on pace to finish it’s Springfield facility next summer.
Construction continued Wednesday on Page Boulevard in East Springfield. Springfield’s Chief Development Officer Kevin Kennedy told 22News the $95 Million rail car facility is on schedule and Chinese Rail Car maker, C.R.C.C. is expected to finish building their manufacturing plant a year from now.
C.R.C.C. will start producing rail cars for the Orange and Red lines of the “T” beginning in the Spring of 2018. 150 new engineering and manufacturing jobs will be available next year.
