Wildfires Continue To Burn Across Southwest

Crews continue to battle huge fires in California, Arizona and New Mexico.

(NBC News) Several wildfires continue to burn across the Southwest, where dozens of homes have been destroyed and evacuations have been ordered in several states.

California’s massive “Sherpa” fire, burning for more than five days, is nearly 50 percent contained, but triple-digit heat is slowing progress for the thousands of firefighters battling the blaze.

New Mexico’s “Dog Head” fire remains at just nine percent containment and has already destroyed at least 24 homes.
