Injured hiker rescued from woods in Wilbraham

WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – A man is expected to be okay after he was rescued following a fall in the woods Monday.

Wilbraham Deputy Fire Chief David Bourcier told 22News that the man was part of a group of hikers that was clearing a new trail, when he slipped on some leaves on an incline and fell. The incident took place only about 100 feet into the woods from a house on Danforth Farm Road.

Bourcier said that firefighters used a Stokes basket to carry the man out of the woods, but they did not need any sort of specialized equipment. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but Bourcier says that his injuries are believed to be minor, saying that the man may have dislocated his knee.
