Springfield July 4th fireworks plans announced

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – For the 25th consecutive year, fireworks will light up the sky in Springfield on July 4th.

The Spirit of Springfield announced its plans Thursday for its annual Star Spangled Springfield spectacular.  The festivities will kick off July 4th at 6:00PM at Riverfront Park with the fireworks to go off at 9:30 from the Memorial Bridge.

MassMutual Vice President Nick Fyntrilakis told 22News the company has proudly sponsored the event for the last decade.

“It’s a pretty significant sponsorship for us. We’re very proud to do it. It’s a really key event for the city and so it’s just a milestone year for us so we’re thrilled about that,” Fyntrilakis told 22News.

Spirit of Springfield estimates three million people have watched the annual fireworks display over the last 25 years.
