Parker Street in Springfield was shut down after serious crash

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A section of Parker Street in Springfield was shut down, Thursday afternoon, because of a serious head-on crash.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News two cars collided around 2:40 Thursday afternoon near Briggs Street. An elderly woman that was a passenger in one of the cars was seriously injured. Sgt. Delaney said she suffered serious wounds to her head and face from the windshield.

Police shut down Parker Street near the crash while they investigated what happened. One of the cars was seen being towed away.
