Fugitive wanted in Puerto Rico for murder found in Leominster hotel

The fugitive was wanted in Puerto Rico for first degree murder, attempted murder, and weapons violations

LEOMINSTER, Mass. (WWLP) – The United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section arrested a man in a Leominster hotel room on Thursday wanted for first degree murder, attempted murder and weapons violations in his native Puerto Rico.

Ramon Torres-Vazquez allegedly shot and killed a male victim in Coamo, Puerto Rico on October 22, 2014. Torres-Vazquez had fled Puerto Rico after the crime and relocated in the Fitchburg Leominster area.

The US Marshals Service in Puerto Rico sent a lead to the local USMS Office in Worcester. Torres-Vazquez had avoided detection by obtaining a false Massachusetts Driver’s License under a different identity.

Torres-Vazquez will be processed and sent back to Puerto Rico.
