Driver swerved to avoid deer on highway; hit 2nd deer and rolled over

Driver injured, but expected to recover following crash on I-495

ANDOVER, Mass. (WWLP) – State police say that a deer was responsible for a rollover crash on Interstate 495 Thursday morning.

According to State Police Media Relations, the driver was headed southbound on I-495 just south of the I-93 interchange, when a deer wandered into the travel lane. The driver swerved to avoid the deer, and ended up striking a second deer before rolling over.

The driver was injured, but is expected to recover.

State police say that the crash serves as an important reminder to be aware of deer, who are especially active around sunrise and sunset.
