MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– A Connecticut Walmart store had to be closed following a robbery there Thursday morning.

Police confirmed to 22News’ Connecticut sister station News 8 that they were called to the Walmart at 1365 Boston Post Road (Route 1), for a report of a robbery. Police say that the suspect ran off following the theft, and that they searched the area, but have so far been unsuccessful.

A Walmart corporate statement sent to News 8 said that all customers and employees are safe and accounted for.

There were previous reports that the store was in a lockdown, but that was not the case.

There is no description of the suspect, or additional details on the robbery available at this time.
