Strawberry season has begun in western Mass.

You can now find locally grown strawberries at most area farm stands

FEEDING HILLS, Mass. (WWLP) – It’s now the middle of June and that means the strawberry season is underway. You can now find locally grown strawberries at most area farm stands.

The nice weather we’ve been having has been good for growing and picking strawberries. Fresh strawberries are available at E. Checci Farms in Feeding Hills. Their season did get off to a later start than usual this year but the weather we’ve been having recently has been good.

Michael Cecchi of Feeding Hills said, “For the strawberries way it’s been has been pretty good. They don’t like it too hot, they don’t like too much water it has been dry we could us a good inch though.” Cecchi says the strawberries should be available to around the 4th of July or a week after because of the later start to the season.

Peas, squash and asparagus are also available now too. The weather sure has been nice but the farmers could use some rain.
