NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Police in Northampton are warning local residents and businesses of a National Grid phone schemes.
According to the Northampton Police Facebook page, the department received 2 reports on Wednesday of downtown businesses getting calls claiming to be from National Grid.
The schemers told the businesses they “owed money and needed to pay immediately or have their power shut off.” Police said the businesses called National Grid and discovered it was a scheme.
Police are warning residents and businesses to be on alert, and if you receive a phone call, do not give any personal information, call National Grid.
