Coping with tragedy: helping our children and ourselves

CHICOPEE, Mass. (Mass Appeal) – The Orlando massacre is hard for us as adults to wrap our heads around, so how are our children processing it? Clinical Psychologist Dr. Patricia Peters Martin gave us some ideas on how to talk about tragedy with our children, and how to deal with it ourselves.

  3. Limit media exposure
  4. Avoid placing blame
  5. Maintain the routine
  6. Spend extra time together
  7. Encourage expression of feelings
