Three people seriously hurt in head-on Agawam accident

Barry Street was closed for several hours

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – Three people are recovering from serious injuries Saturday night after a head-on crash in Agawam.

Agawam Fire Lt. Michael DeFilipi told 22News, at about 3:15 Saturday afternoon, two cars collided head on near 440 Barry Street.

Lt. DeFilipi told 22News that seat belts and air bags likely saved lives in this accident.

The victims were rushed to Baystate Medical Center by ambulance with serious injuries, but they are all expected to survive.

Barry Street was closed for several hours while Agawam Police and the State Police accident reconstruction team tried to figure out what caused the accident.
