Police investigating overnight stabbing in Chicopee

Ten people were seen hitting the victim

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A man is recovering from stab wounds Saturday night after being stabbed and beaten outside of Kelly’s Bar in Chicopee.

At 2 o’clock Saturday morning, two Chicopee police officers who were patrolling in the area heard five gunshots. That’s when they saw a large group of people leaving Kelly’s Bar at 621 Center Street. The group started to run.

Police pulled up and saw one man on the ground, and about 10 people kicking and punching him. Police ordered the people to stop fighting and they ran.

The victim was stabbed twice in his back and stomach. He’s expected to survive.

Officers found five bullet casings, but no one was hit by the gunfire.
