Falcon injured after falling from nest in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police Officers were on patrol in downtown Springfield, Friday night, when they found an injured falcon.

According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, around 9:00 p.m. Friday, the officers found the falcon near the corner of Main Street and Boland Way. The falcon’s wing was injured and couldn’t fly away.

The Massachusetts Environmental Police were called to help, and a member of “Birds of Prey” arrived and took the falcon away to be nursed back to health, Sgt. Delaney said. The environmental expert said the falcon was female and only months old.
