WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – 2016 is The Big E‘s Centennial. On September 16th, The big E will open for its 100th running.
“Eastern States” marked the start of the 100-day countdown with music, games, giveaways, and a birthday cake. 100 years of memories.
Jerry Fogg of Agawam told 22News, “It was fun…it was fun, from the time I was young and my mother took me till the time I was in high school. It was always one of things I wanted to do, was work at The Big E.”
The Big E brings 3,000 jobs to western Massachusetts. Communications Manager Catherine Pappas told 22News the Eastern States Exposition generates nearly a half a billion dollars in revenue. They’re expecting 1.5 million visitors this fall.
