(WFLA) The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says officers have captured a 9-foot alligator in Lake Hunter, where a large gator was seen with a human body inside its mouth Tuesday afternoon.
A trapper contracted by the FWC captured the gator Tuesday night around 9 p.m. FWC says they will examine the captured gator’s stomach contents to see if there are human remains. If not, they will resume their search.
Tuesday around 1:40 p.m. someone at Florida Presbyterian Homes called 911 to report seeing an alligator in the lake that had a body in its mouth. Lakeland Police responded and say they also saw the gator with the body. The gator let go of the body and swam away, but continued to circle the area for one hour.
