Failed cable knocked out power to Hampden County Hall of Justice

Power switched around failed cable- repairs still going on

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A cable failure caused a loss of power at the Hampden County Hall of Justice in downtown Springfield Wednesday morning.

Priscilla Ress, spokesperson for Eversource Energy, told 22News that the incident happened at around 8:00 A.M. At one point, Eversource’s outage map was reporting more than 140 customers without power in the city, but everyone now has their power back.The electricity was out for the courthouse for about an hour, when Eversource crews were able to switch power around the failed cable.

Eversource workers are still trying to fix the damaged equipment.
