DANNEMORA, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Monday marks the one year anniversary since Richard Matt and David Sweat escaped from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora.

The escaped prisoners sent officers on an intense manhunt last summer, costing around $1 million per day!

$300,000 was also spent to fix the damages made by the prisoners as they escaped.

The dangerous men were on the run for three weeks before Matt was shot and killed by authorities and Sweat was captured.
