SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – It was on June 4th, 2014 that a shooter took the life of 23 year old Darrell Jenkins on Kensington Avenue in Springfield’s forest park neighborhood. Saturday marks the second anniversary of that still unsolved deadly shooting.
His family members gathered to celebrate Darrell’s life and urge anyone who knows about the crime to come forward and help police find the killer.
Darrell’s mom told 22News of her continuing pain over the loss of her son.
Juanita Batchelor, Mother of Derrell Jenkins said, “My son was murdered in 2014, he was very special to me and I’m living his memory on, so hopefully people can see and don’t forget about him.”
It was just after midnight on the fourth of June, 2014, when 23 year old Jenkins was shot once in the head on the street in front of 156 Kensington Avenue.
A young woman was also shot but she was able to recover. So far the gunman has escaped capture.
