Wilbraham Police officer injured after chase

Officer fell into dry well following pursuit of Luis Santos

WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – A Wilbraham Police Officer was injured after an early morning chase on Friday.

Wilbraham Police Sgt. Jeff Rudinski told 22News that 21 year old Luis Santos of Springfield was arrested for resisting arrest and a number of traffic charges.

According to Sgt. Rudinski, at around 1:30 A.M., police pursued Santos from Boston Road in Wilbraham until he crashed his car on Wilbraham Street in Palmer. Police eventually found Santos in the woods a short distance from where he crashed.

The injured officer fell into a dry well as he walked out of the woods, and was taken to the hospital.

Charges being filed against Santos:

  • Resisting Arrest,
  • Failing to Stop
  • Negligent Operation
  • Speeding
  • Marked lanes violation
  • No inspection sticker
  • Lights violation
