WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Firefighters were once again out in traffic for a cause in West Springfield Friday. It was the annual “Fill The Boot” campaign.
Every year, just after Memorial Day, West Springfield firefighters carrying boots approach drivers stopped for red lights on Riverdale Street. The drivers donate cash, and fill the boots for MDA, the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
It’s part of the West Springfield Fire Department’s effort to raise money to find a cure for Muscular Dystrophy.
In return for each donation, firefighters gave drivers a sticker that they could affix to their car or truck. The stickers say, “I gave to MDA.”
