SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Cultural District is producing a unique placemaking program in Downtown Springfield starting Monday.

Eighteen artists will be transforming currently bland grey utility boxes at intersections throughout the district into works of art.

Throughout the week of May 23rd, painting will take place and people passing by are invited to experience the live art.

This program is an expansion of the two-box pilot in Stearns Square Park last fall.
