Springfield’s Forest Park home to be demolished Monday

The cost of demolition is more than $29-thousand

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A home that has been an eyesore in Springfield’s Forest Park neighborhood is set to be demolished. The home on Oakland Street will be tore down Monday morning.

The property is privately owned, but has been abandoned for sometime. The city obtained a court order to demolish the home.

One neighbor told 22News, the house should have been torn down a long time ago.

Henry Williams, of Springfield told 22News, “What worried me the most was that the kids were running in and  out of the place and asbestos fibers were all over the house and they didn’t know that. So they definitely, were breathing it. It may not bother them now, or 10-years, but it may bother down the road.”

The cost of demolition is more than $29-thousand.
