Second Annual Wild Goose Chase 5k and Carnival

It's an event for all ages and abilities.

FLORENCE, Mass. (WWLP) – Look Park in the Florence section of Northampton held its 2nd Annual Wild Goose Chase 5k and Carnival Sunday. 22News was there to find that the showers held off just in time.

The Second Annual Wild Goose Chase 5k and Carnival was held Sunday at Look Park in Florence. Money was raised for Whole Children in Hadley an organization that provides after school programs for children of all ages and abilities in western Massachusetts.

22News talked to Ruth Wade, who is Head of the Carnival, telling 22News, “It means an opportunity for children of all abilities to come together that was really important for us to do a fundraising activity that really allowed any child of any ability to come.”

One parent described to 22News how excited his child gets when they go to Whole Children. Andrew Foster, from Easthampton, told 22News, “He gets to be with his peers, abled, disabled, it doesn’t matter and really looks forward to it he’s in the car 15 minutes before we have to get in the car to go to class.”

The Second Annual Wild Goose Chase has already seen more participants than last year coming in at around 450 participants.

Besides a 5k and a carnival there was also kids races, horse-drawn wagon rides, of course live music. The carnival also held face painting and balloon sculptors for everyone.
