LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – The director of spiritual life at JGS Lifecare in Longmeadow has been recognized as one of “America’s most inspiring rabbis” by a national publication. The Jewish Daily Forward named Rabbi Devorah Jacobson on their annual list.
Jacobson, who has been at JGS Lifecare since 2001, is in charge of Jewish programming at their Converse Street campus. She is also a multi-faith chaplain, and teaches Jewish studies for the Florence Melton School in Springfield and Northampton.
The Amherst resident was nominated by former Jewish Nursing Home board chair Marian Broder, who said Jacobson “radiates empathy and compassion, and provides strength and hope.”
In a JGS Lifecare news release sent to 22News, President and CEO Martin Baicker said that their facilities are fortunate to have Jacobson.
“Our residents, staff, volunteers, and clergy community know her well, and we thank Marian Broder and the Forward for their roles in elevating the achievements of our trusted teacher, counselor, and confidante,” Baicker said.
“I am truly touched and honored by this recognition,” Jacobson said. “To be recognized for doing what you have a passion for and doing what gives you such joy and meaning is both humbling and heartening.”
