Victim of deadly West Springfield scooter crash identified

Witnesses told police Rebecca Thor did not stop at red light

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – West Springfield police have identified the woman killed in a motor scooter crash on Route 5 at around 8:30 Thursday night.

West Springfield Sgt. Hubert Rees told 22News that according to witnesses, 28-year-old Rebecca Thor was traveling southbound on Riverdale Street (Route 5) and went through a stop light at the intersection of Elm Street, hitting a car that was coming through the intersection. She went over the hood of that car, and was then struck by a minivan.

Thor had been staying in West Springfield, but Rees said that she had a Georgia state ID.

No citations have been issued against any of the drivers involved in the crash. West Springfield police are still looking into the situation.
