Sullivan: WMass provides attractive choices for growing businesses

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Western Massachusetts may soon have a say in Boston area business decisions, which could bring more jobs to the Springfield area.

House Speaker Robert DeLeo brought together the head of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and the Western Mass. Economic Development Council in Springfield on Friday

Council President Richard Sullivan, a former Westfield mayor, told 22News western Mass. provides some attractive choices for growing businesses. He said, “We’re different; we have a lower cost of living, we have a lower cost of labor, we have a lower cost of energy, and we have centers of excellence in the region.”

Sullivan said we have to put a stop to Massachusetts having two separate economies; one economy for the Boston area, and the other, a less robust economy, for western Mass.
