Springfield Police investigating shooting near Hall of Fame

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police were investigating near the Basketball Hall of Fame, Tuesday night, after shooting in the general parking lot.

Springfield Police Lt. Scott Richard confirmed to 22News that a victim was shot in the parking lot to the Hall of Fame. When we arrived before 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, officers were speaking to witnesses and gathering information.

According to Springfield Police Lt. Brian Keenan, the gunshot victim walked into a local hospital for treatment earlier Tuesday night. Police had no information about how seriously he was wounded; detectives were questioning the victim at the hospital.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that the shooting was the result of a “drug deal gone bad.”
