Governor Charlie Baker declares May “General Aviation Appreciation Month”

According to the proclamation, general aviation airports in Massachusetts support 4,466 jobs and a total payroll of over $169 million.

WASHINGTON, DC (WWLP) – The Alliance for Aviation Across America thanked Governor Charlie Baker for declaring May 2016 “General Aviation Appreciation Month” on Monday.

Massachusetts’ general aviation airports contribute over $516 million to the state’s economy.

The Massachusetts Airport Management Association (MAMA) worked to support the signing of this proclamation. The proclamation coincides with MAMA’s On the Hill Day on Tuesday to showcase the value of aviation in Massachusetts.

“We thank Governor Charlie Baker for this proclamation declaring May ‘General Aviation Appreciation Month’ and recognizing the significance of general aviation and local airports in Massachusetts,” said Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America, Selena Shilad. “General aviation is an important tool for businesses of all sizes, supporting economic growth, and also supports critical services for communities across the state.”
