House fire in Springfield leaves three people homeless

The residents made it out safely

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Three people are without a place to stay after a fire Saturday morning in Springfield.

Springfield Fire Department Spokesman Dennis Ledger told 22News, firefighters were called to 106 Edgemont Street just after 7 o’clock Saturday morning for a house fire.

When they arrived, they saw smoke and flames coming from the home.

The three people that lived there made it out of the house safely.

The fire caused extensive damage to the basement and the first floor of the home. The fire was so hot it also melted the siding to the neighboring house.

According to Leger, the fire most likely started in the basement, but firefighters are still trying to determine the exact cause.
