Herbs for cooking and cosmetics: Hyssop

Intro: “H” for HYSSOP

HYSSOP Salad Dressing

  • 1 Teaspoon dried hyssop
  • 2 Tbsp Red cider Vinegar or Lemon Juice
  • Salt &Pepper to taste
  • ½ tsp Daily Dash (optional)

Directions

  • Mix all together in a salad dressing shaker.
  • Pour over salad just before serving.

Spicy Peach Coffee Cake

Topping:

  • ½ c. oatmeal
  • ½ c natural sugar
  • ½ c All-Purpose Baking Mix
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp dried hyssop
  • 3 T butter softened

Cake:

  • 6 T softened butter
  • ¾ cup all natural sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose baking mix
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 container Greek yogurt (any flavor)
  • 1 can peaches or 2 fresh peeled & sliced
  • 1 Tablespoon dried hyssop
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8×8 square pan
  • Mix topping ingredients together until they are like coarse crumbs. Set aside.
  • Beat butter, sugar, vanilla. Add eggs alternating with flour mix.
  • Add in yogurt
  • Spread batter into pan.
  • Sprinkle hyssop on top
  • Sprinkle topping over hyssop flavored batter.
  • Bake 32-38 min.
  • Cool before eating (if you can)

Sore Throat Gargle Mix

  • 1 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/5 cup dried hyssop
  • glass jar with lid
  • Strainer

Directions

  • 1. Put hyssop in clean jar .
  • 2. Pour Vinegar over to top.
  • 3.Cap & set aside for 2 weeks.
  • 4. Strain & label.
  • 5.Add 1 Tbsp to ½ cup water to gargle .
  • Great for sore throats.

Hyssop Facial Toner

  • 1 cup witch hazel
  • 1/5 cup dried hyssop
  • glass jar with lid
  • Strainer

Directions

  • 1. Put hyssop in clean jar
  • 2. Pour Witch hazel over to top.
  • 3.Cap & set aside for 4-6 weeks.
  • 4. Strain & label.
  • 5. Pour small amount on cotton ball & cleanse face
  • 6. Traditionally used for sagging facial skin or to firm skin.
