Hampden County Sheriff candidates first debate

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Monday night marked the first debate involving the 5 candidates running for Hampden County Sheriff. The five-way debate was hosted by Focus Springfield Community Television.

Participants included Sheriff’s Department Deputy Superintendent Nick Cocchi, Assistant Deputy Superintendent James Gill, Springfield City Councilor Tom Ashe, Governor’s Councilor Mike Albano, and retired addiction specialist Jack Griffin.

The debate’s moderator was Michael Dobbs, Managing Editor of The Reminder. A media panel that asked the candidates questions were 22News I-Team Reporter Ryan Walsh, Paul Tuthill from WAMC and Elizabeth Roman from The Republican.
