GILL, Mass. (WWLP) – A manhunt is still underway in Franklin County, for a man from Plymouth accused of stabbing his elderly neighbor to death.
Twenty-four year-old Tyler Hagmaier allegedly stabbed Vibeke Rasmussen 35 times.
Hagmaier is a Montague native, and police believe he may have come back to western Massachusetts before taking his own life. They searched for him throughout the weekend. On Friday, police thought they found his car near the French King Bridge, leading them to think that he may have jumped from there. However, they have not been able to find him, and they are still actively searching for him- dead or alive.
Police say that if Hagmaier is alive, he is incredibly dangerous. Gill resident Gary Bourbeau told 22News that he is on alert.
“First thing was we have a murderer in our little town of Gill. Second thing was I hope they find him. There’s a lot of territory here, so I just want to be prepared, but I’m not real worried,” Bourbeau said.
Montague police are warning residents to keep their doors locked, windows closed, and porch lights on until the suspect is found.
If you see him, you are urged to call 911 immediately.
