Belchertown Police Chief Christopher Pronovost

BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) – Christopher Pronovost took the oath as Belchertown’s Police Chief Monday night, after signing his $124,000 contract last week.

Chief Pronovost had previously served as a captain with the Amherst Police Department. Monday, 22News asked him what his plans are moving forward.

“That we’re here to help them. I believe in being a service orientated police department. So whatever they need, we’ll be responsive to that,” said Chief Pronovost. “Things that may seem small and insignificant, if we can be of help to anybody in this community that’s my goal that we’ll be able to do that.”

Pronovost will lead the Belchertown Police Department after former Chief Francis Fox resigned in September, following an alleged drunk driving incident.
