SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A taxi cab ended up crashing into an office building after being hit by another car in Springfield’s Forest Park neighborhood Thursday morning.

According to Dennis Leger, aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, no one was hurt in the crash, which happened at 9:29 A.M., but there is damage to the foundation of 603 Sumner Avenue. Leger said that the building commissioner is sending someone over to check to see whether it is safe.

Springfield Police Officer Robert Kalin told 22News that the cab was leaving Benson’s Bagels and was attempting to cross Sumner Avenue onto Ormond Street, when the cab was struck by a car traveling eastbound on Sumner. Kalin said that the cab driver then accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, crashing into the sign in front of the building, as well as the building itself.

603 Sumner Avenue houses several offices, including a law practice and a mortgage company.
