Hampden County D.A. hosts symposium on campus safety

The office is also working on student outreach

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Hampden County District Attorney’s Office is working to keep local college students safe on campus.

District Attorney Anthony Gulluni hosted a safety symposium Thursday that focused on campus sexual assault.

The event brought together medical professionals, law enforcement and faculty from local colleges.

Gulluni told 22News the groups learned how to work together to understand protocols when assaults happen and how to the support victims. “It’s really about education, it’s about prevention, it’s about partnering with college faculty and administrations here in Hamden County to set a protocol and procedures when these things do happen.”

Gulluni said his office is also working on student outreach with incoming college freshmen, to teach them about sexual assault prevention.
