Homeless organization hosts lunch and information session

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Friends of the Homeless hosted a free Feed a Friend lunch and open house on Tuesday. Attendees gathered in the Glass Room at Elegant Affairs in Springfield to enjoy a free light lunch and to get educated on how they can donate or volunteer with Friends of the Homeless.

At Tuesday’s event, organizers stressed how important help from community members is to keeping the organization afloat. Bill Miller explained that “People’s financial contributions helped us stay open and do the work to help people move up and move forward in their lives, not move backwards.”

Friends of the Homeless operates the largest emergency shelter and resource center for homeless adults outside of Boston. They depend on private support to keep the facility and programming open year-round.
