Holyoke police recover stolen car

Both the driver and passenger inside tried to escape

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Police in Holyoke recovered a stolen car early Tuesday morning.

Holyoke Police Lt. Larry Cournoyer told 22News a victim was carjacked at 1:13 Monday morning.

Then, just after midnight on Tuesday, police spotted the stolen car and pulled it over on Hampden Street.

Lt. Cournoyer said both the driver and passenger tried to escape, but both were caught.

It’s not clear if they were the ones who stole the vehicle; however, the driver, a 22-year-old man from Holyoke, is facing several charges, including receiving stolen motor vehicle. He’s expected to be arraigned in Holyoke District Court Tuesday morning.

The passenger was a juvenile and released to her mother.
